Visa Information:

Completed Visa applications can be dropped of in person at 17 Isabella St. Unit #100. We also accept courier services and registered mail as acceptable forms of delivery. Please do not send your application through regular mail. If you would like your application sent back, please include a prepaid expresspost envelope with your return address details filled out in advance.

Canadian Passport Holders

0-Day Stay Without a Visa 


The citizens of this country are not required to obtain a visa before entering Thailand as long as the purpose of the trip to Thailand is tourism and the traveller's stay in Thailand is 30-days-or less. You must have: a valid passport (with at least 6-months validity and empty visa pages), proof of confirmed air tickets confirming the 30 days-or-less stay in Thailand, no criminal history in Thailand, and at least $200 per person or $400 per family. Extension of stay will not be granted.

Note: Holders of Travel Documents or Certificates of Identity are required to have a visa to enter Thailand.



Tourist Visas

 This type of visa will be issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom of Thailand for tourism purposes for a stay longer than 30 days..


1. Requirements for obtaining a tourist visa:

  • Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months. The passport must be valid for travelling to Thailand.
  • Visa application form completely filled out for each passport.
  • One recent official passport photograph of the applicant ( 5 x 7cm) taken within six months of application.

Notes:
- With regard to minors travelling to Thailand and who appear on their parents'passports, please be advised that for each minor parents must: fill out one visa form, submit one official passport photograph and pay the visa fee for each minor.
- Visa application forms may be submitted by mail. A self-addressed and stamped envelope for the return of the passport by Xpresspost or Courier is required, or enclose $15 return mail fee. In the absence of the required self-addressed Xpresspost envelope or $15 mailing fee, the Consulate will not be responsible for returning the passport and you will be contacted to send the appropriate $15 postage fee.  
- If the applicant sends a passport by a courier service, he/she must pay the courier fee. The Consulate will not accept materials sent "Cash on Delivery" (C.O.D.). If the applicant wants his/her passport returned by a courier service, he/she must encloses a self-addressed prepaid envelop for the return of the passport, or provide their courier account number.

2. Tourist Visa Fee
Tourist Visa fees: $40 for a single entry visa. Double entry visa $80 Triple entry visa $120. Only money orders or Cash are accepted if sent by mail. No personal cheques or company cheques will be accepted under any circumstances.

3. Validity of Tourist Visa
The Single Entry tourist visa must be utilized within 90 days from the date of its issuance. Double and Triple Entry Visas must be utilized within 180 days from the date of its issuance.

4. Validity of Stay
Travellers entering Thailand with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom for a period not exceeding 60 days.

5. Extension of Stay
Those who wish to stay longer can submit an application form at the Office of Immigration Bureau located at
Immigration Bureau of Bangkok Thailand Building B, Bangkok Government Center, Chaengwattana Road (close to the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chaengwattana Road.) BANGKOK. The extension of stay and re-evaluation of visas is at the discretion of the Immigration officer.

Non-Immigrant Visas (Not available for those travelling to Thailand for tourism purposes. Tourists must apply for tourist visas.)

This type of visa is designed for applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom for the following purposes:

 

  • to perform official duties (Category "F")
  • to conduct business / to work (Category "B")
  • to invest with the concurrence of the Thai Ministries and Government Departments concerned (Category "IM")
  • to invest or perform other activities relating to investment, subject to the provision of the established laws on investment promotion (Category "IB")
  • to study, to come on a work study tour or observation tour , to participate in projects or seminars , to attend a conference or training course , to study as a foreign Buddhist monk (Category "ED")
  • to work as a film-producer, journalist or reporter (Category "M")
  • to perform missionary work or other religious activities with the concurrence of the Thai Ministries or Government Departments concerned (Category "R")
  • to conduct scientific research or training or teaching in a research institute (Category "RS")
  • to undertake skilled work or to work as an expert or specialist (Category "EX")
  • other activities (Category "O")

1. Requirements for obtaining a Non-Immigrant Visa:

  • Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months. The passport must be valid for travelling to Thailand.
  • Visa application form completely filled out for each passport.
  • One 5 x 7 cm full-faced, bareheaded photo taken within six months of application.

Note:
- With regard to minors travelling to Thailand and who appear on their parents'passports, please be advised that for each minor parents must: fill out one visa form, submit one official passport photograph and pay the visa fee for each minor.

The applicants must submit the following relevant documents depending on thepurpose of their visit:

To conduct business / To work:

  • Letter from a company stating the objective of the visit to Thailand
  • Document showing correspondence with business partners in Thailand
  • Letter of invitation from companies qualified to employ foreigners
  • Employment contract indicating rationale for hiring the applicant as well as his/her salary, position and qualifications (document must be signed by authorized managing director and affixed the seal of the company)
  • Copy of Work Permit issued by the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (only in cases where the applicant has previously worked in the Kingdom)
  • Copies of corporate documents including:
    - List of shareholders
    - Business registration and business license
    - Company profile
    - Details of business operation
    - List of foreign workers stating names, nationalities and positions
    - Balance sheet, statement of Income Tax and Business Tax (Por Ngor Dor 50 and Por Ngor
      Dor 30) of the latest year
    - Alien income tax return (Por Ngor Dor 91)
    - Value-added tax registration (Por Ngor Dor 20)
  • Copy of educational records of the applicant and letters of recommendation from the prior employers, identifying job description and length of employment
  • Document indicating the number of foreign tourists (for tourism businesses only), document indicating export transactions issued by banks (for export businesses only), or degree/ Police Clearance Certificate (for teaching English)

To Study:

  • Transcript / Letter of acceptance from the concerned schools / universities or institutes

Mailing Notes:
 - Visa application forms may be submitted by mail. A self-addressed and Xpresspost or courier envelope is required. In the absence of the required envelope, the Consulate will contact the applicant and arrange for a $15 shipping fee or an envelope to be sent. 
- If the applicant sends a passport by a courier service, he/she must pay the courier fee. The Consulate will not accept materials sent "Cash on Delivery" (C.O.D.). If the applicant wants his/her passport returned by a courier service, he/she must encloses a self-addressed prepaid envelop with their courier account number.

- No credit card payable courier returns will be accepted.
- In all cases, the consul may request additional information or document depending on the type of visa being issued. Your application may be refused ordelayed due to unforeseen circumstances.

- All interational applications must provide a valid courier account number for returns. The $15 return fee is for domestic delivery only.

2. Non-Immigrant Visa Fees
CAD$70 for single entry, CAD$140 for double entry and CAD$180 for multiple entries

3. Validity of Non-Immigrant Visa
Single-entry visas are valid for three months. Double entry for six months, and multiple-entry visas are valid for one year from date of issue.

4. Validity of Stay
The holders of this type of visa are initially granted a period of stay in the Kingdom not exceeding 90 days unless otherwise instructed by the Office of Immigration Bureau.

5. Extension of Stay
Qualified persons can obtain an additional one year stay permit counting from the date of entry in the Kingdom in accordance with the Office of the Immigration Bureau's regulations on extension of stay. The extension of stay is at the discretion of the Immigration officer.

Notes:
- Same-day, weekend and holiday visa service may be available but only for Emergency Situations Only. a $100 surcharge applies for all instances of emergency services or same-day service. Please email your name and phone number to ben.heller@thaiconsulatetoronto.com if you require emergency service.  
- The documents submitted for a Non-Immigrant Visa application are evaluated based upon the necessities and appropriateness of purposes stated in the application form.
- Consular officers reserve the right to request additional documents if deemed necessary.
- Copies of company documents must be signed by the Board of Directors and affixed with the seal of the company.
- In the absence of a required document, a letter explaining the reason for the document's unavailability must be provided.
- The applicant must sign on each page of each copy
- Documents in foreign languages must be translated into Thai. If translated into English, the documents should be notarized by a notary public.

For those foreigners who wish to work in Thailand, their employer in Thailand should submit Form WP3 (Application for applying a work permit on behalf of alien according to Section 3) at the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare.
